 In Uncategorized

On November 11, 2016, Douglas Chandler of Chandler Law, LLC, was invited by Georgia State College of Law, Adjunct Professor of Professional Responsibility and Carlock Copeland & Stair, LLP, General Counsel, Shannon M. Sprinkle, to participate in a panel discussion on the topics of evaluation of potential legal malpractice claims and malpractice avoidance.  Other issues discussed were the types of acts or facts which can inflame or make a claim worse, what claims other than professional malpractice that might be asserted against lawyers, risk management tips, and the differences in defending between State Bar disciplinary complaints and malpractice claims.  While Mr. Chandler and panelist Linley Jones, Esq. covered the plaintiff’s perspective of malpractice claims, Carlock Copeland & Stair attorneys Peter Werdesheim, Esq. and Eric Frisch, Esq. covered the defendant’s perspective. The Professional Responsibility class consisted of students from around the world who are licensed to practice law in their home countries.  The LL.M. (Master of Laws) program at Georgia State is an internationally recognized postgraduate law degree.  Considerable time was spent answering the students’ questions regarding lawyer liability insurance and the need for its protection by both lawyers and consumers alike.
