Douglas Chandler, Aubrey Smith, Ben Parks, and David Moon Speak to Rome, Georgia Law Firm

On March 10, 2016, Douglas Chandler of Chandler Law, Aubrey Smith and Ben Parks of the Southern Lawyers Insurance Program, and David Moon of Lan-Tech/Compass Point Legal spoke to lawyers and staff at the Rome, Georgia office of McRae, Stegall, Peek, Harman, Smith & Monroe, LLP. During the two hour presentation which included lunch, the group discussed the topics of law firm risk management, legal ethics, cyber security, and professional liability. “The program is designed to help lawyers learn how to avoid a grievance with the State Bar of Georgia or a claim for legal malpractice or breach of fiduciary duty while upholding their State Bar required ethical obligations,” Chandler said. Smith and Chandler regularly speak around the States of Georgia and Alabama on these topics, but this seminar added a new component. “We were pleased to add David Moon of Lan-Tech/Compass Point Legal to this program and hope to make Mr. Moon a regular component of future programs” Chandler added. Mr. Moon’s portion of the presentation showed the lawyers and non-lawyers of the firm how best to secure sensitive and confidential electronic client information. “Cyber security is one of the largest risk areas for all law firms in today’s digital environment,” said Moon.
